| | VINTAGE ANDERSON WW II FIXED BLADE KNIFE (SOLD)A very nice speciman of a WW II vintage Anderson Patton Sword fighting knife.One of the more collectible of WW II knives.This knife is listed in Cole's U.S. MILITARY KNIVES BAYONETS & MACHETES BOOK III on page 186 Mr. Anderson made knives for our fighting men in WWII. He used sections from the Patton Cavalry sword. This one is made using the butt of the sword with the markings. To quote Mr. Coles book " These knives are made with a gray or brown plastic handle molded on a section of the 35" blade from the M 1913 Patton Cavalry Sword. These knives are of very good workmanship." This one has the mottled brown handle in perfect condition. ANDERSON GLENDALE CALIFORNIA is stamped on one side, Made in U.S.A is stamped on the other. There is a thong hole. The blade is the butt section of the sword as on one tang is & C 1918, U and the ordance bomb can be seen on the other tang. There is some pitting on both sides The edge looks original 11.75"" OAL; 6 7/8" blade; A brown leather sheath is included. It appears to be the original sheath. It was made to be carried as a left hand carry. The sheathe is in pretty good shape other than the hold strap is gone and the front has cracking. Very nice old vintage military collectible.
