My wild guess is that it possibly was a knife that was donated to the military in WWII. Lipshaw MFG. CO DETROIT U.S.A. is stamped in the center of the handle on one side. If there were any markings on the tang, they are not readable because of the pitting. The handle is aluminum. The blade is obviously some sort of carbon steel as it is pitted.
